Mimir Chamber Music Festival Announces 27th Season
June 13th 2024FORT WORTH, Texas – Mimir Chamber Music Festival, internationally recognized as a leading summer music series and teaching workshop, is celebrating its 27th season, with an exciting series of concerts performed by a stellar array of outstanding musicians from around the globe.
There will be five Mimir Artists concerts, featuring an all-star cast that includes celebrated pianist John Novacek, the Horszowski trio, and familiar faces from the Chicago, Kansas City, and Houston symphonies and The Cleveland Orchestra.
Mimir performances will be held at PepsiCo Recital Hall on the campus of TCU, with a matinee concert at the Kimbell Art Museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion.
Featured Mimir Artists include Violins - Jun Iwasaki (Concertmaster, Kansas City Symphony), Jesse Mills (Horszowski Trio), Stephen Rose (Principal Second, The Cleveland Orchestra), Curt Thompson (University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music); Viola - Joan DerHovsepian (Principal, Houston Symphony), Jessica Thompson (Daedalus Quartet); Cello - Brant Taylor (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Ole Akahoshi (Horszowski Trio); Piano - Rieko Aizawa (Horszowski Trio), and John Novacek (concert pianist/recording artist).
Mimir continues to present an exceptional educational experience for up-and-coming musicians with an intensive two-week immersion in chamber music performance and instruction. Mimir will feature three exceptional pre-formed ensembles, including Trio Ondata, Silver Medal winner of the esteemed 2022 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, joined by Cong Quartet from Hong Kong and Reka Quartet from Australia.
The Mimir Artists Concerts are scheduled for July 3, July 5, July 7, July 9, and July 12. All concerts will be held at TCU's PepsiCo Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m., except for the July 9 performance, which will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Kimbell’s Renzo Piano Pavilion. Mimir Artists tickets are priced at $35 (general), $30 (seniors), and $10 (students); Emerging Artists concerts are scheduled for July 6 and July 11 at 7:30 p.m. at PepsiCo Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 (general) and $5 (students).
