Mimir Chamber Music Festival Announces 26th SeasonJune 24th 2023
FORT WORTH, Texas – Mimir Chamber Music Festival, internationally recognized as a leading summer music series and teaching workshop, is celebrating its 26th anniversary season, with an exciting series of concerts performed by a stellar array of outstanding musicians from around the globe.
There will be five Mimir Artists concerts, featuring an all-star cast including celebrated pianist John Novacek, the Horszowski trio and familiar faces from the Chicago, Kansas City and Houston symphonies and The Cleveland Orchestra.
Mimir performances will be held at PepsiCo Recital Hall on the campus of TCU, with a matinee concert at the Kimbell Art Museum’s Renzo Piano Pavilion.
Featured Mimir Artists include: Violins - Jun Iwasaki (Concertmaster, Kansas City Symphony), Jesse Mills (Horszowski Trio), Stephen Rose (Principal Second, The Cleveland Orchestra), Curt Thompson (University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music); Viola - Joan DerHovsepian (Acting Principal, Houston Symphony), Jessica Thompson (Daedalus Quartet); Cello - Brant Taylor (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Ole Akahoshi (Horszowski Trio); Piano - Rieko Aizawa (Horszowski Trio), John Novacek (Concert Pianist/Recording Artist).
Mimir continues to present an exceptional educational experience for up-and-coming musicians with an intensive two-week immersion in chamber music performance and instruction. Mimir will feature four pre-formed ensembles, including Trio Ondata, top prize winners of the 2022 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, joined by groups from the DePaul University School of Music and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. There will be two performances.
Mimir Artists Concerts are July 5 July 7, July 9, July 11, and July 14. All concerts are held at TCU's PepsiCo Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m., except for the July 9 performance, which will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Kimbell’s Renzo Piano Pavilion. Mimir Artists tickets are $35 (general), $30 (seniors), and $10 (students); Emerging Artists concerts are July 8 and July 13 at 7:30 p.m.at PepsiCo Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 (general) and $5 (students).
