Marija Räisänen

Lithuanian-Finnish violinist-violist Marija Räisänen started her violin studies at the age of five. From 2012-2017 she attended Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium in Kaunas under the guidance of Milda Pupelienė. In 2017 Räisänen began studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the studio of professor Réka Szilvay. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in violin in the studio of lecturer Jaakko Ilves.

Marija Räisänen has performed as a soloist with Kaunas Magnus University Orchestra and Kaunas Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductors Ričardas Šumila, Vilmantas Kaliūnas, and Jonas Janulevičius. She has also been an active participant in masterclasses with musicians such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny, Elizabeth Wilson, Levon Chilingirian, Simone Gramaglia, and others.

Chamber music plays a big part in Räisänen’s musicianship. Since 2018 she has been a member of Erinys Quartet. In 2021 the ensemble took part in Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition. Erinys has also attended various festivals and masterclasses.

In 2018 Räisänen took part in Royal Concertgebouw Symphony Orchestra’s “Side by Side” project and performed with the orchestra in Helsinki Music Center. She was also selected for an apprenticeship program with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. In Spring 2022 she was invited to play in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
