Joosep Reimaa

Joosep Reimaa started his violin studies at Tartu Heino Eller Music School with Eveli Roosaar. In 2018 he graduated Tallinn Music High School from Tiiu Peäske’s violin class and continued his studies in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Triin Ruubel and Harry Traksmann.
During the academic year 2019/2020 Joosep participated in the ERASMUS+ program as an exchange student at University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar, Germany (class of prof. Kathrin ten Hagen). From autumn 2020 he is studying in the Sibelius Academy under the guidance of Jaakko Ilves.
Joosep has gained recognition at various national and international competitions: diplomas and laureate titles at the National Young String Players Competitions (Tartu, Estonia, 2014, 2016, 2018), 1st prize and special prize at the Savshinky Music Competition (St. Petersburg, Russia, 2016). He is also an active chamber musician and has earned recognition at the competition-festival In Corpore (Tallinn, Estonia, 2017, 2018)..
Reimaa has also shared the stage with various orchestras as a soloist, such as Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, orchestras of Tallinn Music High School and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and Sibelius Academy Wind Orchestra.
He is also a passionate orchestra musician and has played as the leader in orchestras of Tallinn Music High School and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Järvi Academy Youth Orchestra and Virumaa Chamber Orchestra. Joosep has taken part of various summer courses: National Summer Course for Young String Players (Värska, Estonia, 2013-2018), Järvi Academy (Pärnu, Estonia, 2013-2021), and Allegro Vivo (Austria, 2021). In 2016, 2017 and 2019 he received a scholarship to attend renowed summer academy “Astona International” in Switzerland. He has participated in masterclasses of Stanislav Pronin, Kolja Blacher, Detlef Hahn, Viktor Tretyakov, Reka Szilvay, Daniel Rowland among others.
