Akari Hatanaka

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai’i, Akari Hatanaka is a passionate chamber musician and orchestral player on both violin and viola. She attended Indiana University as a recipient of the Artistic Excellence Fellowship and the Premier Young Artist Award Scholarship, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and most recently, a Graduate Performer Diploma in Solo Violin. She has performed as a scholarship recipient at summer festivals such as Le Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, Orford Musique, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. Her principal teacher is Mauricio Fuks, and she has also studied with Alexander Kerr, Naoko Tanaka, and Mimi Zweig.
