Deming String Quartet
Formed in 2019 at the DePaul School of Music, the Deming String Quartet is comprised of violinists Megan Yao and Trent Ransom, violist Jorge Luis Zapata Marín, and cellist Patrick Hartson. They have primarily worked with members of the DePaul School of Music faculty, including Ann Setzer, Janet Sung, and many more. In addition, they have received coachings from renowned chamber music artists such as the Cavani String Quartet and the Israeli Chamber Project.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the Deming String Quartet has been actively engaging in virtual concerts with the DePaul School of Music. With help from the music school, they presented the second movement of African American composer George Walker’s String Quartet No. 1 in the DePaul School of Music Spring Celebration at Home: Works of Strength and Resilience event.
The quartet has performed in chamber music concerts at the DePaul School of Music throughout 2019 and early 2020 and held its first live recital since the pandemic on June 4th 2021 at the Cathy Lancaster Gallery in Chicago.
