April Sun

A native of Bozeman, Montana, pianist April Sun recently completed a Master's degree with Dr. Daniel Shapiro at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she continues post-graduate studies in piano performance and pedagogy. Her other primary mentors have included Henry Campbell, Susan Keith Gray, and Paul Barnes, and she has studied chamber music with members of the Chiara, Cavani, Cleveland, and Garth Newel quartets. April has received top prizes in numerous national competitions and has performed with the Bozeman, Great Falls, South Dakota, and UNL symphonic orchestras, and with the Chiara and Skyros string quartets. April completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in music with minors in both English and Art History at the University of Nebraska--Lincoln, and was invited to perform in China as a cultural ambassador. An avid writer, she contributes to ClevelandClassical.com. Away from the piano, she enjoys hiking, board games, travel, and food with spirit(s). She is also fond of fainting goats.
