Lucas Levin, Viola

Lucas Levin

Born in Melbourne, Australia, at a young age Lucas started the Suzuki program on violin. He didn't try viola until late 2013, and after just over a month of self-teaching was selected to participate in the inaugural Mimir Chamber Festival Melbourne.

He has previously studied with Julian Quirit and Simon Oswell at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where he was a recipient of the Corinna D'Hage Mayer String Scholarship. In 2015 will be studying on a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, in London with Jon Thorne.

As well as his quartet work Lucas has a wealth of orchestral experience, having played in a variety of youth orchestras, including several based in Paris, and under such renowned conductors as Benjamin Northey, Christian Badea, Larry Rachleff, Stefan Ashbury and more. He recently appeared with the Australian Youth Orchestra in Victorian Opera's production of Wagner's "Der fliegende Holländer".

Outside of music, Lucas has diplomas in acting and French, and a Bachelor of Science.
