Mark Liu, Viola
Elijah Baik, Cello
Formed in the fall of 2014 at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the guidance of Merry Peckham, the Ignaz Quartet is comprised of violinists Rebecca Benjamin and Pablo Griggio, violist Mark Liu, and cellist Elijah Baik. The Quartet seeks to bring energy and excitement to their interpretation through the pursuit of technical excellence and the performance of dramatic interpretations.
As a member of the Intensive Quartet Seminar at CIM, the Ignaz Quartet works primarily with Peter Salaff of the Cleveland Quartet and the Cavani Quartet, and participates regularly in guest masterclasses. They have played for Roger Tapping and Donald Weilerstein, and regularly represent CIM in performances throughout the community. The Ignaz Quartet has been featured in the Music in the Galleries series at the Cleveland Museum of Art as well as at various concerts at the Cleveland Institute of Music. They look forward to attending the Beethoven Institute, the St. Lawrence String Quartet Seminar, and the Mimir Chamber Music Festival this summer.
