The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to present for one night only, a concert of the finest chamber music from the Mimir Chamber Music Festival. Mimir proudly celebrates its 22nd anniversary season this year, in its original home of Fort Worth, Texas, and this year marks the 7th season at its second home at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Mimir artists performing in Hobart will include violinist Curt Thompson, Founder and Executive Director of the Mimir Chamber Music Festival and Head of Strings at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music; Stephen Rose, Principal Second Violin of the Cleveland Orchestra, and Head of the Violin Department at the Cleveland Institute of Music; Joan DerHovsepian, Associate Principal Viola of the Houston Symphony and Artist Teacher of Viola at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music; Brant Taylor, cellist with the Chicago Symphony and faculty member of DePaul University School of Music; and pianist, John Novacek, international solo recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. The Mimir musicians will be joined in the Dvorak by the Tasmanian Symphony’s own Jennifer Owen on second violin. Mimir artists will work with students from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music.
Program will include:
Piano Quartet in A minor, Mahler
String Quartet in C minor Opus 18, Beethoven
No 4 Piano Quintet in A major, Op 81, Dvorak.
